February 5th, 2016 (Brooklyn, NY) — Blind Idiot God Raise The Titanic Tour launches on April 13th with stops in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Norway. Based on a new worldwide distribution deal revised release dates are February 19th for digital and April 8th for the gatefold double-vinyl LP with album artwork by Seldon Hunt (Neurosis, Earth, Melvins, Sunn). Also available on CD.
Pre-sales begin today on iTunes with an “Instant Grat” promotion featuring album track “Under The Weight” (all customers ordering the album today instantly receive “Under The Weight” and the remainder of the album on 2/19).
The new release dates also mean a slightly new album design which carries over to band merchandise. It is similar to the original but different enough to make both editions desirable to collectors. Merchandise featuring the Seldon Hunt “Raise the Titanic Tour” design will include t-shirts, long-sleeve shirts, hoodies and stickers.
“It’s been 10 years since my last European tour with Khanate” drummer Tim Wyskida explains, “and more than 20 since Blind Idiot God last toured Europe. We haven’t been sitting around scratching our elbows in the interim. From Trondheim to Bologna, we’re ready to offer some high volume sonic peacocking.”
“We’ve not heard from the band since 1992 but now they are back with a Bill Laswell-produced masterpiece” Germany’s Eclipsed Magazine recently reported, adding “Andy Hawkins still proves, despite the long break, to be one of the most inventive power-guitar players in the world.”
“Heavy music that isn’t stupid and doesn’t think I am stupid,” is how master of guitar innovation and King Crimson alumnus Trey Gunn described the album. And Decibel Magazine calls the record “…a masterful exposition of caustic free jazz, quick-change thrash, noisy grind, lung rattling dub and deep, deep industrialized funk.”
